SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - The Florida Department of Transportation will host a public hearing for the I-75 at SR 780 (Fruitville Road) Project. The project includes reconstruction of the interchange at Fruitville Road. The state will rebuild the interchange from the existing partial cloverleaf design to a diverging diamond interchange. It will also replace the existing bridges over Fruitville Road and widen 1.6 miles of Fruitville from Honore Avenue to east of Coburn Road.
Project staff will display plans and answer questions about the proposed interchange. The hearing will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Selby Public Library, in Downtown Sarasota. An open house will begin at 5 p.m. during which staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions, followed by a formal hearing presentation at 6 p.m., after which participants can let their thoughts be known. Attendees will be able to review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members about the proposed project improvements.
No word yet on when construction could begin. FDOT has also built a diverging diamond at the University Parkway interchange, while others are currently under construction in Manatee County.
