SARASOTA, Fla. -- County officials have offered no explanation for why the director of Sarasota County Area Transit has been fired.

Glama Carter has been relieved of her duty despite a recent positive employee review, getting a 4 out of a 5 score and being described as dependable and reliable.  She even was given a raise.

But despite the change, county officials stress it will be business as usual at SCAT, and that all plans to improve the county transit system will continue.

“The decisions for the human resources actions that occurred this week is simply to allow for an opportunity to change in the leadership in Sarasota County Area Transit. Being an at will employee there’s that ability as far as their employment can end any time between the employee’s decision or leadership's, and that’s what occurred,” says Sarasota County’s Jamie Carson.
