PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- A Port Charlotte house that was the scene of two drug arrests last week was destroyed by a fire early Wednesday.

Wednesday morning at 2:40am, Charlotte County Fire EMS responded to a call for a structure fire located in the 500 block of Orange Drive in Port Charlotte.

Emergency units arriving on scene found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.  The fire was attacked and under control at 3:02 a.m., 18 minutes from the time that firefighters arrived on scene.
The home was vacant at the time. No injuries reported. Firefighters found four vehicles in front of the house, a motorcycle which was destroyed, 2 cars, which also were damaged and a pickup truck, the truck was not damaged.
The house is the same location where Sheriffs’ Office Narcotics detectives served a search warrant and arrested two people on Friday.  36-year-old James Hoholik and 25-year-old Megan Kukuish were arrested after detectives located multiple items with both methamphetamine residue and MDMA residue in various locations within the house. They also located a small end of a rolled joint of marijuana in a candleholder.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but investigators have determined it is now considered an arson case.
The home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage and at this time appears to be a total loss.
