MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -Troopers have released more information on a possible vehicle used in an Ellenton fatal hit and run crash early Monday morning.

The crash happened around 12:30am in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 301 near 19th Avenue East, which is about a mile east of U.S. 41.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Daniel Mimbs of Bradenton was riding his bicycle eastbound on the right shoulder of U.S. 301 when a vehicle struck him from the rear.

The vehicle left the scene, but troopers say it is believed to be a 1997 to 2004 Ford F-150 or a 1996 to 2002 Ford Expedition. The damage should be to the right front and possibly the right side and windshield of the vehicle. An example of the vehicles is included here.

This crash remains under investigation.

Mimbs was taken to Blake Medical Center in Critical condition.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact FHP Trooper J. Donnelly at (941) 751-8350.
