FHP: Driver flees on foot after injuring motorcyclist

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - Authorities are looking for a persom they say ran a stop sign in Nokomis and hit a motorcyclist Saturday night, seriously injuring its driver.

The crash happened at 11:50pm Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Rubens Drive in the Sorrento East neighborhood.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a person driving a Lincoln Continental was westbound on Rubens Drive and failed to stop for the stop sign at U.S. 41.  The car entered the path of a northbound motorcycle driven by 51-year-old Connie Davis of Venice.

Davis' motorcycle crashed into the left side of the car, and she was thrown from the vehicle.  She was taken to Venice Regional with serious injuries.  She was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the car fled the scene on foot after the collision.

Anyone who has information as to the identity of car's driver is asked to contact the FHP Ft. Myers Regional Communications Center at 239-938-1800 in reference to Case Number FHPF13OFF068117.
