Federal charges filed in steroid investigation

MANATEE CO., FL - Federal charges have been filed against a former Manatee County Sheriff's Deputy and a West Manatee Rescue firefighter involved in a steroid scandal.

The charges were filed in the U.S District Court in Tampa on Wednesday.

Former deputy Thomas Peel and firefighter Wayne Faulkner are facing charges related to purchasing illegal steroids with intent to distribute.

Three other men, including a personal trainer are also being charged.
