MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Plans to build a road connector from I-75 to Port Manatee may be put on hold.

The plan has been talked about for the last four years, but recently the Florida Department of Transportation says the connector will not be built until traffic at the port increases.

There are also concerns that the port won't be able to obtain the 272 acres of right-of-way from land owners to build it.

However, port officials say now is the time to do it, as they are preparing for growth.

So far, no federal funds have been set aside for the project.
