SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- North Port investigators have passed along evidence from a fatal shooting to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The evidence is from the March 1st death of Christopher Hays. He was shot at a home on Deming Avenue during what was thought to be an attempted burglary.

Since then, investigators have said Hays was known by people inside the home.

North Port detectives say the FDLE has better forensic capabilities and it will allow police to know if they should pursue charges in the case.
