SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - Hundreds come out to benefit the All Faiths Food Bank on Saturday as the women of the 9-hole Golf Association of Heritage Oaks hosted a luncheon and fashion show by Daisy Cotton to raise money.
Proceeds benefited the food bank's Backpack Kids program, which provides food on Fridays to students who may otherwise go without it over weekends and holiday breaks.
Saturday’s event benefits the programs at Oak Park School in Sarasota for students with special needs, ages 3 to 22 years.
“Our goal was to feed fifty children; we are now feeding 100. The community has been very generous, and we are just overwhelmed by the generosity of the community,” said co-chair Sheri Abramson.
More than 200 guests showed up at the event.
Last year, All Faiths Food Bank distributed 7 million pounds of food, equating to 5.8 million meals.
