SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- An Englewood woman was killed Wednesday after troopers say she got out of her car while it was still in gear and got crushed by a pole.

It happened just after 8am on Yale Street at Elm Street.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 62-year-old Alys Arnall was in a pickup truck on Yale Street and got out of the driver's seat while the truck was still in reverse.

The truck began moving backwards with Arnall halfway out the door, and hit a power pole at the intersection.  Arnall was crushed between the truck and the pole and died at the scene.
