SARASOTA, Fla. -- Sarasota fire crews have been working to get several ducklings out of a storm drain.

On Monday morning, a mother duck and her babies were seen walking through a parking lot near Orange Avenue and Fruitville Road. Mother Duck walked across the storm drain, but her ducklings fell in.

Pamela McGinley works nearby and says she and others were able to rescue three ducks and take them to Bayshore Animal Hospital to recover.

However, several ducks remained in the drain, and their mother eventually gave up and left.

Friday, firefighters were able to remove one of the ducklings from the drain, but at last word, a crew was still trying to get the remaining three out.
