Down power line snarls traffic on U.S. 41 near Sarasota airport

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Power crews are on the scene just north of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport after a vehicle crash knocked out electricity.

The crash happened shorty after 1:30pm at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Pearl Avenue in the Whitfield Estate area.

The crash reportedly knocked down a power line and cut power locally.

According to FHP, both directions of U.S. 41 are closed and traffic is being diverted.

UPDATE: According to FHP, traffic has reopened on U.S. 41 in the area.
