LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL (WWSB) – The wait and the construction is almost over for the diverging diamond traffic pattern at the I-75 and University Parkway interchange.
Coming Sunday morning, the diverging diamond will be ready for drivers to test out. The diverging diamond includes five westbound lanes and five eastbound lanes.
“Westbound traffic shifts from the north side of University Parkway to the south side and Eastbound traffic shifts form the south side of University Parkway to the north side,” according to FDOT. If a driver wants to enter the interstate they have to stay in the left two lanes.
Leading up to the diverging diamond opening Sunday, several lane closures will occur this week, starting Wednesday.
Drivers will use a detour from 10 p.m. on Wednesday to 6 a.m. on Thursday. Eastbound and Westbound University Parkway will be closed under I-75 at the University Parkway Interchange and there will be lane closures on the off-ramps. Drivers must exit the interstate before or after the University Parkway Exit.
On Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., crews will be preparing for the diverging diamond traffic pattern. There will be lane closures on the I-75 southbound off-ramp and the I-75 northbound off-ramp.
