PALMETTO, FL. – The DeSoto Heritage Festival kicked on Good Friday with a children's parade in Palmetto.

Featured in the parade were floats built by various manatee county elementary schools. There were also activities for children who came out to the event, including games and a magic show.

The parade started at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto and ended at Sutton Park, where today's festivities ended with a party in the park.

ABC7‘s Chief Meteorologist Bob Harrigan took part in today's parade, and the weather held up just enough for things to go smoothly.
