BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the deputy involved in Thursday's fatal shooting in Bradenton.
32-year-old Sergeant Brady McCabe -- a 12-year veteran with the sheriff's office -- fatally shot a suspect who allegedly charged at him with a Samurai sword.
It happened in the 3200 block of 58th Avenue East. Deputies were responding to a domestic situation, and when they arrived at the residence, they say 31-year-old Terry Sellars charged them while wielding a sword.
Sgt. McCabe fired his gun, killing Sellars.
McCabe was not injured, and is on paid administrative leave as the case is investigated, which is standard protocol.
