BRADENTON, Fla. - A Bradenton man ran from deputies and took his own life once deputies caught up to him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

22-year-old Elias Guadarrama shot himself in the head while in the back yard of a Bradenton home Monday night.

Deputies say they approached a vehicle in the 4800 block of 18th Street West just after 10pm Monday in reference to a vehicle burglary investigation.  Guadarrama and another person exited the vehicle and Guadarrama fled on foot.

Deputies pursued him to 19th Street West, where they say he fired two shots at deputies.

They later located Guadarrama in the back yard of a home in the 1900 block of 51st Avenue West.  Deputies ordered him to show his hands, and that's when he fired upon himself.

No one else was injured during the incident.

A search of the vehicle driven by Guadarrama produced crack cocaine, prescription pills and marijuana. Guadarrama also had a bag of crack cocaine in his pants pocket.

other than the drug possession what on earth would make him kill himself. i'm sure he's served prison time before. well, come to think about it, maybe the experience wasn't such a pleasant one. also, he really messed up when he decided to shoot at the cops, that may have been the deciding factor. after that bad judgment, he was going to first get a big arce whipping, then double digit years. given that, i don't blame him.
