Deputies: Man calls mom to pick him up after high-speed chase

PALMETTO, FL. - Deputies in Manatee County have arrested a mother and son after a high-speed chase.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Bryan Johnson was spotted by deputies driving along 30th Avenue West early Thursday morning.

Deputies recognized Johnson from previous arrests and knew he had a suspended license. When the deputy attempted to pull Johnson over, he sped off. A chase ensued that went from Bradenton into Palmetto.

Deputies were able to catch up with Johnson after he tried to hide his vehicle along the side of a Wal-Mart store. According to the sheriff's office, he called his mother to come pick him up and he was apprehended as he was getting into his Mother’s car outside of the Wal-Mart.

Both Johnson and his 67-year-old mother, Linda Johnson, were arrested. He faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of cocaine. His mother faces charges of obstruction.
