Deputies believe home invasion robbery was drug related in Lakewood Ranch

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL (WWSB) – The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reported a home invasion robbery in Greenbrook.

Around 3:22 a.m. on Monday, the eight residents of the home left the rear slider door unlocked. Four armed suspects then entered the home through the unlocked door.

Deputies reported a strong odor of burnt marijuana when they arrived on the scene.

Of the four suspects, one was arrested and the three others remain at large. Robert Baylis, 20, was charged with Home Invasion Robbery.

One of the victims, Nicholas Layton, 28, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sarasota County for Failure to Appear.

At this time, deputies are investigating the incident but believe it was drug related.
