Dead body found in home that was shot at and set fire

**UPDATE**  Officials with Charlotte County Fire Rescue now say that a deceased white male was found in the garage of the home, and authorities are investigating the cause.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL. - Charlotte County deputies are looking for a man who shot a gun into a home and then set it on fire.

It happened just before 3 am Tuesday at the 700 block of Riviera Lane.

According to Charlotte County Fire Rescue, the man showed up at the home attempting to force his way inside. He fired a gun through the front door, and then reportedly set the home on fire.

Crews on scene say the home was fully involved when they arrived.

A woman inside the home was able to escape and call 911 from a neighbor's house.

Deputies are looking for the suspect.
