ABC 7 Weather Desk - So far this winter we have avoided the extreme cold, but not this time. A strong cold front has made it's way through our area this afternoon bringing a few showers, but more importantly possibly freezing temperatures, and dangerous wind chills Tuesday morning.

The freeze warning is in effect for Manatee, Hardee and Desoto counties until 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. This means we will see temperatures 29-32 degrees for several hours from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Tuesday. If you have sensitive plants you may want to bring them in or cover them if you can't bring them in. Make sure you pets are brought in from the cold as well.

Wind chills in the mid 20s can be expected from 11 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. for the entire Suncoast area. A freeze watch is in effect for the entire viewing area on Wednesday morning.

We will eventually see the temperatures start to warm up by late Wednesday.

Stay warm.
