SARASOTA - He has crossed the country once on foot, and now he's doing it again, but on a bike.
Chris Nicholas says everyone has different talents to raise money, but his is physical.
The runner, now turned cyclist, passed through the Suncoast Wednesday on his way from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon.
Last year, he ran from the White House all the way to Santa Monica, California, and once he's completed his charity ride Nicholas will be the first person in history to cross the country twice within 12 consecutive months. “I'm more of a runner. When I ran across the U.S. I was in my comfort zone, but now that I am on the bike cycling you’re cycling with traffic rather than running against the traffic, so it’s a little more scary out here definitely.”
Nicholas is hoping to raise $25,000 for three charities, The Wounded Warrior Project, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Jude's Children Hospital.
