SIESTA KEY - January 7th, 2012, police say a drunk driver slammed into a woman named Donna Chen as she jogged with her dog on Siesta Key.

Chen died in the crash, but her friends have set their minds to making the anniversary mean something better.

On Sunday, Yellow Strawberry Salon in Sarasota donated proceeds from haircuts, and took donations for the Humane Society of Sarasota in Chen's name.

The Humane Society also brought dogs available for adoption, so people could donate money to the cause and save a dog. About $3,000 was raised.

ABC 7 helped sponsor the event.
