MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - Five men have been arrested as part of an organized group accused of stealing and re-selling diesel fuel in the Tampa Bay area.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Manatee County & Hillsborough County sheriff's offices.
According to FDLE, the group operated an organized criminal enterprise that stole diesel fuel and gasoline from Florida farms, ranches and businesses. The stolen fuel was then sold to commercial truck drivers, commercial transport businesses or to private citizens in the Tampa Bay area.
The group is also believed to be involved in the theft of watercraft vehicles, motor vehicles and motorcycles and operating a counterfeit credit card operation to purchase items from businesses in the Tampa Bay area.
Two men were arrested in Manatee County: 36-year-old Mario Capote, and 26-year-old Yuniel Doval. Both men have been booked into the Manatee County Jail.
Arrested in Hillsborough County were 26-year-old Yasmani Hernandez, 31-year-old Yosvani Guzman, and 22-year-old Yaima Suarez.
This case will be prosecuted by Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.
Additional arrests are expected.
