CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Port Charlotte mother of two is facing child neglect charges after police say she used hot sticks to brand her children.

23-year-old Kayla Oxenham was arrested Tuesday at her residence.  According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, Oxenham lit a stick on fire to heat it up and then branded her children.  After lighting up the stick, she reportedly told her children "I forgot how much I like fire."  She then told her children she was marking them so she knew they were hers.

A daycare center noticed the marks on her 5 and 7 year old daughters, and reported it to authorities.

The children were removed from the home, and Oxenham was taken to jail, charged with Child Neglect without great bodily harm.

She has since bonded out.
