FLORIDA (WWSB) - A growing number of groups around the state and on the Suncoast are calling on Governor Rick Scott to veto a sweeping education bill.
The $419 million bill was passed in the final hours of this year's legislative session.
It covers a wide array of issues. Everything from increasing the amount of recess time to increasing the amount of funding to private charter schools.
The bill was a top priority for house speaker Richard Corcoran and school choice groups. But the chair of the Sarasota County school board says it undermines our public school system and removes local control handing it back to the state.
