SARASOTA---City residents got their first chance to meet representatives with the new engineering firm hired to take over the Lift Station 87 project.
The meeting was held Wednesday night at City Hall. Team members from the firm, McKim and Creed spoke about the process and took questions from those who attended.
"It is a challenging project. We do have to not only regain the trust of the residents and businesses, but the city staff as well," said new Project Manager Robert Garland.
The project was supposed to be completed two years ago, but thanks to a series of setbacks, it's still ongoing. It may now not even be completed until August 2015.
"It has been one screw-up after another," said Sarasota resident Pandora Seibert.
McKim and Creed will hold multiple meetings with the public in order to update them on the progress. The firm was paid $1.1 million by the city.
"I'm just hoping this time they are going to get it right," said Sarasota resident Mark Herrli.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday night at City Hall at 6:00.
