City and county closings for Veterans Day

SARASOTA COUNTY - All Sarasota County government offices, including libraries, recreation centers and the Sarasota County History Center will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans Day.

The following Sarasota County Parks and Recreation facilities will be open:

• Arlington Park, noon-5 p.m.

• Payne Park, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m.

The Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range and the Englewood Sports Complex will be closed.

Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus service, including paratransit service, will operate on its regular schedule on Veterans Day. However, the Veterans Bus will not operate on Nov. 12.

Garbage collection will not be affected for residential customers of Waste Management.

Both the landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road and the Citizens' Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 12. The landfill administration office will be closed.

The Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, the ReUzIt Shop and the Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center will be closed.

SARASOTA, FL: City of Sarasota administration offices will be closed Monday, November 12 in observance of Veterans’ Day. The closing affects City Hall, the Federal Building and Public Works, although solid waste and recycling collection will not be impacted.

The Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee will host the annual Veterans’ Day parade on Sunday, November 11 starting at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue in downtown. A ceremony will follow at approximately 11 a.m. in J.D. Hamel Park at Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue. The public is encouraged to attend.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – Manatee County Government offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 12 in honor of Veterans Day.

Solid waste collections will not be impacted by the Veterans Day holiday. All Manatee County Area Transit routes will run normally on Monday.

Central Library, the only county library normally open on Mondays, will also be closed.

Manatee County parks, preserves and beaches will be open to the public. G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, but the two county golf courses will remain open for play.
