Charlotte County, FL-  A 48 year old man is run over and killed during a traffic accident in Port Charlotte early Monday morning.

It happened just after 2 a.m., at the corner of Prineville Street and Tulane Avenue.  According to Florida Highway Patrol Troopers, a car with 3 people in it was traveling north on Prineville Street, when they came across a man laying in the middle of the roadway.  The driver swerved to miss the man, but ultimately ran over the man in the street.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one inside the vehicle was hurt, but a passenger, who is pregnant, was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
