PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Charlotte County is one step closer to getting a new aquarium.

The city of Punta Gorda hired a consultant to look into the feasibility of an aquarium there, and the report says the aquarium would be a big boost to the Charlotte County economy.

The main downside to the aquarium would be the cost, which could run in the tens of millions of dollars.  Mote Marine has been considering expanding operations in the Charlotte Harbor area.
