OSPREY, Fla. - In a dramatic scene along U.S. 41 in Osprey Friday night, bystanders helped rescue two people from an out-of-control SUV that landed upside down in North Creek.

According to authorities, a little before 8:30pm, a couple was traveling in a vehicle headed northbound on U.S. 41 when Carolyn Dwyar reportedly blacked out from an unknown medical condition.

The vehicle drove onto the median and into North Creek, which runs underneath U.S. 41 between McIntosh Road and Osprey Point Drive.  The SUV dropped about 10 feet and landed on its roof in the shallow water.

Dwyar and her passenger, Francis Dwyar, were pulled out by bystanders.  First responders then took the couple to an area hospital.

They were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
