SARASOTA - Two brothers were arrested Thursday night after detectives say they were manufacturing methamphetamine at a homeless camp in Sarasota.

Sarasota Police Special Investigations Section detectives received information from officers that 30-year-old John Bedford and 19-year-old David Haring were cooking meth in their tents in the wooded area east of Cattlemen Road and Webber Street in Sarasota.

Detectives determined Haring bought one of the main ingredients, Pseudoephedrine, on Wednesday and Bedford purchased more on Thursday. Undercover detectives and deputies from the Tactical Unit went to the campsite just before 9pm and found all the materials necessary to cook meth and significant quantities of the drug.

Both men admitted cooking meth and were charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Trafficking in Methamphetamine. Bedford has a history of drug, burglary and battery arrests.
