SARASOTA - The life of a Suncoast girl was celebrated Thursday at the Broken Egg restaurant in Sarasota, in an effort to carry on her legacy by helping animals in need.

10% of sales at all Broken Egg restaurants Thursday will go to Nate's Honor Animal Rescue, the favorite charity of Lexi Brown.

The 10-year-old Parrish girl was killed in Ohio by her father in January.

After her death, loved ones started Lexi's Paw Pals to ensure that her love of animals lives on. "She volunteered her time out to the animal society, she even signed her parents up to volunteer out there. So she really honored this and this is something that was her dream, to go into the medical field for animals," said Dawn Hair at The Broken Egg.

More information on Nate's Honor Animal Rescue can be found on their website.
