BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Bradenton Police Department is calling into question some recent comments from their counterparts in Sarasota.
Sarasota Police say they want some businesses along Dr. MLK Way in Sarasota to close earlier, citing safety concerns posed by large crowds gathering on the street.
Sarasota Police released a video from the night of 4th of July as evidence of the safety concerns. It appears to show one man passing a handgun to another man, who shoots several rounds into the air. Officers took the alleged shooter into custody.
But Bradenton Police take issue with something said by Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino.
They tweeted on Tuesday: “@sarasotapd , are there any stats that support the spd chief that these late night people are quote "mostly from bradenton"
