BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Bradenton man that apparently set himself on fire in a suicide attempt last week has passed away.

71-year-old Thu Hoang passed away Monday morning, according to Manatee County Sheriff's spokesperson Dave Bristow.

Investigators say that Hoang was found on fire by passers-by near the entrance to the Silver Lake subdivision on Lockwood Ridge Road at 59th Avenue East last Friday morning.

A sheriff's detective arrived on scene to find two people attempting to douse the fire.

Hoang was flown to the hospital in critical condition.
