Bradenton man critical after being hit by truck while on bicycle

MANATEE COUNTY – A Bradenton man is in critical condition after being hit by a truck while riding a bicycle.

It happened Wednesday around 7:30 am at U.S. 41 and SR 684 in Manatee County.

42-year-old Johnny L Anderson of Bradenton driving was northbound on U.S. 41 approaching the intersection of S.R. 684. 44-year-old Mark Saba of Bradenton going east on his bicycle on the south shoulder of S.R. 684.

Saba failed to observe Anderson and rode into their direct path. The left front of truck struck the bicycle. Saba was ejected off of his bike and into intersection.

Saba was taken to Blake Medical Center in critical condition. He was not wearing a safety helmet.

Charges are pending.
