NORTH PORT, Fla. -- An 11-month-old North Port child passed away Sunday after violent shaking injuries sustained Friday night, and a Bradenton man has been charged in his death.

35-year-old Bryant Carter has been charged with Manslaughter (Negligent) Aggravated Death of a Child, and Aggravated Child Abuse.

According to the North Port Police Department, on Friday, Carter and another woman were watching 11-month old Jaishin Vinson when the woman made a short trip to the store.  She says that when she returned about 15-20 minutes later, the Carter told her that the child was in "a deep sleep" and she should not wake him.

When she looked at the child, he was pale, cold to the touch and not breathing.  She called 911 and another friend arrived to provide chest compressions while waiting for emergency personel to arrive.

Vinson was transported to North Port ER for treatment to what nurses described as injuries consistent with violent trauma.  He was later transferred to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, where doctors say his injuries were exclusively caused by a violent shaking motion.

Vinson passed away from his injuries Sunday night.
