Bradenton man arrested after crashing into Sheriff's Deputy vehicle

BRADENTON, Fla.- A Manatee County man is facing charges after deputies say he crashed into a Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle.

It happened at the 1100 block of 61st Ave. E, just after 9 p.m. Monday night. According to deputies, 43-year-old Israel Lara-Contreras was traveling east on 61st Avenue when he unexpectedly crossed the center line and crashed head on into the patrol vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

During the crash investigation it was suspected Lara-Contreras was under the influence.  Following an investigation, deputies concluded Lara-Contreras was intoxicated and she was arrested for DUI.

The Patrol vehicle sustained approximately $3000 in damage and Contreras’ vehicle sustained approximately $2000.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to the damage
