MANATEE Co., Fla. (WWSB) - Sheriff's deputies have arrested Dorian Gilmer, 19, of Bradenton, for possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Gilmer is a member of a local gang called "Team No Sleep," according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. A drug investigation in September led to the arrest of 16 other gang associates.

Deputies searched Gilmer's home in the 5600 block of 19th Street West and found two handguns, one of them stolen, and 51 grams of fentanyl. The Suncoast, tri-county area, which includes Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto counties, is leading the state of Florida with the number of fentanyl deaths.

Gilmer attempted to escape arrest around 8 a.m., according to the report, but was captured by the county's Warrants Unit.

Anyone with information should contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477.
