SARASOTA - Black Friday madness has hit the Suncoast, as shoppers lined up outside stores Thursday to get deals on some of the hottest items this holiday season. And this year, some of those stores are even opening up a day early.
At 8pm on the dot, ecstatic customers poured in to the Sarasota K-Mart on Beneva Road. They weren’t waiting until Friday to do their holiday shopping, buying everything from Barbies to big TV’s. “We got a TV set for the bedroom, and one for the living room.”
Several stores, along with K-Mart, opened on Thanksgiving night this year, leaving some wondering if Black Friday has turned into Black Thursday. “Came on Thursday…it wasn't too long of a wait, 5 hours. It really didn’t seem that long.”
If you want to talk about waiting for a long time, Barbara Waters has been camping out since Tuesday morning with dozens of others at the Best Buy on University Parkway. “I am a single mom with 4 kids, so I'm trying to get the best deals I can.”
Deals that all of the shoppers are trying to get, on anything and everything.
“I want a 50 inch flatscreen.”
“I want pajamas.”
