SARASOTA, Fla. -- Bicyclists from around the Suncoast gathered Wednesday at Robarts Arena for six miles of silence.

They wore black armbands in remembrance of cyclists who have died while riding, and red armbands for the ones who were injured.

The ride of silence is part of a larger movement of silent rides that are observed internationally. The ride is an effort to raise awareness about cyclists and traffic.
