NORTH PORT, Fla. - A heartwarming reunion was held Monday between a baby and the first responders who delivered him in a North Port Fire Rescue ambulance.

On January 16th, Melissa Wolfgang went into labor and her husband Daryl called 911 because the baby was coming quickly. The paramedics arrived and put the mom in the ambulance.

But they only made it 100 yards down the road before they had to pull over and deliver the baby.

Leo was born just a few minutes later. “It all happened so fast, and I’m just so thankful that we had such wonderful people there to help out, because having a baby’s not an easy thing,” says Melissa.

Happy and healthy, the family was transported to Peace River Medical Center in Charlotte County.

Monday night, the EMS team and the family were reunited at Fire Station 84.
