Authorities warn of possible pesticide being used to taint drugs

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says a pesticide may be used in the manufacture of "spice", also known as synthetic marijuana.

Detective recently purchased a substance during an undercover operation that they say was supposed to be used in manufacturing spice.  The substance turned out to be a pesticide known as acephate.

The Sheriff's Office believes that the pesticide may have been or will be used in product on the street.  Use of a product containing the pesticide could result in illness or death.

Anyone with information on tainted spice is asked to call Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011.
