SARASOTA, Fla. -- Authorities are looking for the driver of a four-door Honda after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Bee Ridge Road Saturday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol says 71-year-old William Wren of Sarasota was stopped in traffic on his motorcycle facing west at the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Lockwood Ridge Road shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday.

As he began driving through the intersection, the front of a four-door Honda – traveling westbound – collided with the rear of the motorcycle. The collision caused the Honda to drag the motorcycle for approximately 250 feet, to the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Murdock Avenue.

Wren was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead. Next of kin has been notified.

Troopers with FHP say the Honda was last seen heading westbound on Bee Ridge. The car in the photo seen here is an example of what it looked like.

If anyone has information on the crash, or was a witness, you're asked to call Florida Highway Patrol at (239) 938-1800 or *FHP on your cell phone.

Charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.
