Attempted Murder Suspect Caught in Bradenton

BRADENTON, Fla. -- On Monday, May 19, 2014, at approximately 07:58 a.m., Bradenton Police Officers responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of 6th Avenue East, to investigate a complaint of a stabbing.

During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect, later identified as Mr. Erasto Bernabe Sanchez, 24 YOA, W/M, of Bradenton, Fla., broke into his ex-girlfriends’ residence and waited for her to return. When the victim came home, Mr. Sanchez grabbed her by the hair and started stabbing her in the back several times. The victim was able to break free from Mr. Sanchez and run to another residence. Mr. Sanchez fled the area and called for a taxi.

The victim suffered from multiple stab wounds and was taken to Blake Hospital for treatment. The victim remains in ICU in stable condition.

Bradenton Police Detectives were able to communicate with the taxi driver that was with Mr. Sanchez. This information was given to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office who located the taxi and Mr. Sanchez in north Palmetto. Mr. Sanchez fled from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Deputies, but was tracked by Manatee County Sheriff’s K-9 units and taken into custody.

Mr. Sanchez and the victim have two children together.

Attempted 1st Degree Murder (1 Count) – Felony

Obstruction (1 Count) – Misdemeanor

Burglary ( 1 Count ) – Felony ( PENDING )
