SARASOTA - The State Fire Marshal is investigating what could be an attempted arson in Sarasota.

This is the 5th suspected arson case on the Suncoast in as many days.

The fire happened around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon at a home on Oragnewood Lane.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the roof. They quickly put out the flames, but while inspecting the house fire investigators found something suspicious. They say it appears someone filled a glass jar with a flammable liquid, wrapped it in a rug, lit on fire and threw it onto the roof.

The state fire marshal is now investigating.
