VENICE - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a home invasion suspect who deputies found hiding in the shadows just minutes after the crime.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the occupants of a home on Horizon Road saw a man on a surveillance camera positioned near the rear door around 11 p.m. Wednesday. One of the victims thought he had left and went outside to investigate. He was confronted by the suspect, who pointed a gun at him.
The suspect, 25-year-old Rondell Taylor, forced the victim at gunpoint to the front of the home and through the open garage and ordered the victim to open a safe located in a bedroom. When the attempts were unsuccessful, Taylor fled the area.
Deputies responded to the scene and found Taylor hiding in the yard of a nearby house just 6 minutes after the incident occurred.
Taylor was arrested and charged with Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm.
