SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Police have a man behind bars just 48 hours after the city's first homicide in 2014. 35-year-old Jorge Macias is charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of 50-year-old Johnny Luna.
Luna's body was found early New Year's Day in front of his home on 4th Street in Sarasota. According to police, Luna and Macias got into an argument earlier in the night at a New Year's Eve party. Police say Macias later confronted Luna outside his home where the murder occurred.
Macias allegedly admitted during a police interview to stabbing Luna to death, and police say they also found evidence in Macias' home that supports he is the killer, including a set of knives that matched the murder weapon found at the scene.
Macias has been charged with Murder.
