SARASOTA - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the November robbery of a Sarasota Beall’s Outlet.

Arrested was 36-year-old Donald Simon.

After the Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video to the media, Crime Stoppers received several tips naming Simon as the suspect.

Detectives interviewed associates who confirmed he was the man seen threatening clerks and customers with a knife and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Simon had been hiding at an unknown location and tried to get money to flee the area, but he was taken into custody Thursday afternoon by the Fugitive Apprehension Unit when he returned to his home.

Simon is charged with Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on $100,000 bond. He has a lengthy criminal history that includes more than a dozen arrests for crimes including kidnapping, drug possession and burglary.
