Armed robbers hit Punta Gorda Waffle House

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- The Sheriff’s Office responded early this morning to the Waffle House in Punta Gorda after employees reported that the business had been robbed at gunpoint by two men.

Employees at the Waffle House, located at 9092 Mac Drive in Punta Gorda, told deputies that two Black male suspects forced their way into the business just before 4:00 a.m. today. Both men were wearing masks and dark or camouflage type clothing, and both were carrying handguns.

The men demanded money from the cash register and forced the employees to lie on the floor. They fled the area in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction.

Major Crimes detectives were called to the scene, along with members of the Crime Scene Unit. The investigation is still on-going at this time.
