SARASOTA - An 18-year-old Suncoast teen who is currently battling her second cancer was granted her wish to fly a helicopter, courtesy of the Children's Dream Fund.

Ashley Krueger was diagnosed at the age of 16 with rare bone cancer Ewing Sarcoma.  Then just 6 months after receiving treatments for that, she got the heartbreaking news that she was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma.

When the CDF learned of her wish, they contacted Jim London at Heli Aviation. Jim happened to know Ashley via the Raiders Team at Sarasota Military Academy and arranged the flight, with all expenses paid for by the owner of Heli Aviation.

Wednesday, Ashley lifted off from Heli Aviation in a 4-seat helicopter for a tour around the Suncoast, during which she was allowed to take full control over the aircraft for a time.  "It was a little scary at first, but after a while it was comfortable," she said after the trip.

Ashley is scheduled to undergo a bone marrow transplant in the near future.

“I hope this dream will give her a respite of joy prior to her next phase of treatment,” said Niclas Herle, CEO of Heli Aviation
